Position Overview Riverside Research is seeking a senior dynamic, strategic, operational, and growth-focused Associate Director to develop a capability area focused on cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. As a key member of our Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning team, the Associate Director will pursue and grow opportunities with government research organizations (e.g. DARPA, IARPA, service labs, etc.), lead existing R&D contracts, and transition technology into our other business units. The AD must have a background in machine learning and artificial intelligence as well as a focus on developing value propositions for customers involving machine learning methods and techniques. You would be joining a dynamic, growth-focused Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Lab working closely with the Director to enact and manage an innovative technology development strategy and oversee the teams implementing it. The Lab performs research and development focused on providing solutions to the Defense and Intelligence Communities. The Associate Director will report to the Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Lab of the Open Innovation Center Business Unit. The Associate Director will set the direction in leading a diverse team responsible for developing artificial intelligence and machine learning operations. They will also oversee technical marketing and proposal writing in their research area. The Associate Director should have hands on experience in some of the following domains: machine learning methods and applications, Department of Defense and Intelligence Community needs in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and multi-source data fusion and analysis. Experience with human-machine teaming and machine learning applied to the human domain (social/cognitive systems) is a plus. Responsibilities * Innovating new solutions to challenging artificial intelligence and machine learning problems * Mentoring junior scientists and setting direction on cyber embedded research and development efforts * Technical proposal development to include idea generation, writing, reviewing, and editing * Lead capture activities, to include strategy workshops, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, collaboration sessions, proposal reviews and opportunity shaping * Interact routinely with all Business Units, infrastructure POCs, staff, and customers, and follow through on tasks. Qualifications Required: * MS or PhD degree, preferred in related technical field, and 10+ years' experience in computer science, computer engineering, cognitive science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or cybersecurity or related fields * Must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. * Leadership skills to develop, organize and execute significant capture activities, including building industry teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans * Proficiency in programming languages and typical machine learning developmental operations environments (such as Python, Pytorch, Keras, tensorflow, etc.) Desired: * Healthy balance between technical orientation and business acumen * Ability to gain internal support, operate in
