Lactation Consultant ID 2024-22406 Category Health & Wellness - Lactation Consultant Facility DOD / MTF - Ohio - Wright Patterson Air Force Base Job Description Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an Exciting Potential Opportunity for a Registered Nurse-Lactation Consultant supporting Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton OH. Job requirements: Degree/Education: Associates Degree of Nursing. Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): HCWs shall maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers in accordance with American Heart Association. In addition, all HCWs shall maintain current certification requirements for Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as required by DHA Procedural Instruction Number 6025.16. Recertification training is not a governmentexpense. Experience: One year of postpartum experience and one year as an International Board of Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Board Certification: International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLCE) Duties: Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF. Perform physical exam and health histories. Provide health promotions, counseling, and education. Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. Document care provided in patient's chart. Instructing and observing patient care provided by other healthcare professionals. Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel. Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes. Attending meeting at the MTF for breastfeeding (to represent the unit, pull data, present, provide education). Attend safety huddles and staff meetings as directed by section leadership. Teach provider breastfeeding education classes and support groups.
