ADM Milling and Baking Solutions

This is an exempt position.

We are seeking an experienced baker with strong technical skills, experience in industrial bakery settings with strong interpersonal skills to provide technical sales for our flour and specialty product platforms in the Milling and Baking Solutions business unit. This position will support the promotion, selling and marketing of our product portfolio; provide technical support to others and participate in team selling activities; serve as a key member of the sales team by participating in product innovation efforts and supporting the achievement of business unit goals. Detailed responsibilities include:

What will you do as a Technical Sales Rep?

  • Demonstrate and troubleshoot products in the customer’s facility (bakery) and assist customers with the development and implementation of new products and ideas using our products as the foundation.

  • Collaborate with customer service, Key Account Managers, Market Sales Reps, sales leadership, R&D, and operations to ensure adequate commercial product and service stream to meet sales and profit goals.

  • Manage the assigned customer relationships and report activities to the Sales & Service Manager and the salesperson for the account.

  • Present new products to customers.

  • Prepare visit reports, weekly planners, sales reports, and project briefs promptly and professionally.

  • Up to 50% overnight travel; regular daily travel to customer sites is required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Identify new sales opportunities in the territory within the established customer base and new industries

  • Develop strategy and time frames for trial runs that will allow for production and efficiency

  • Work with product and technical managers to achieve sales and marketing plans

  • Provide training to sales representatives and customers

  • Participate in team selling with sales representatives or strategic partners as assigned

  • Work with Research & Development to create new applications upon customers’ request.

What Does It Take to be a Technical Sales Rep

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.  

  • 5-7 years’ baking experience; working with various channels of customers including artisanal, manufacturers, and foodservice

  • Exposure to a range of bakery platforms preferred; sweet goods, pan breads, snacks, flatbreads etc.

  • Strong fundamental flour knowledge a plus

  • Strong understanding of baking processes and equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively to provide recommendations and suggestions.

  • Ability to build solid working relationships with both internal and external partners.

  • Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
