VAL VERDE - COUNTY OF Food Dist./Maintenance Worker in DEL RIO, Texas

*General Description: The Food Distribution Clerk/Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of duties to meet the daily food orders of clients. Duties relating to the updating and organizing of information for Food Distribution. Maintains the offices and yard areas clean, ensures that all is organized within the Community Center. Under general supervision, responsible for receiving, storing and distributing food. Specific Responsibilities: Performs food distribution, loading and unloading. Also, performs warehouse work necessary to provide food assistance to agency clients. Food, product sorting, storage, stocking shelves, coolers and the discard of waste. Works to insure effective and efficient warehouse operations. Checks food, drinks, fruit and produce to maintain appropriate product quality. Supports, assists, volunteers and assists staff in completing all tasks. Assists clients and directs volunteers in guiding clients through the distribution lines. Works in a safe manner, complies with all safety rules and procedures. Promotes team safety. Conducts housekeeping to assure that work areas meet cleanliness insures that all areas are organized, clean, safe, and clutter-free. Ensures the restrooms are cleaned and maintained on a daily basis. Represents the Community Center in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner with donors, volunteers, visitors, community members, agency partners, store personnel, school officials, clients, staff and all others. Maintains all necessary records including donations and disbursement receipts, client logs, time-sheets, discard, ect... Supports successful food drives and pickups as directed including occasional Saturday work. Sorts donations, makes food boxes and cleans fresh produce. Attends staff and training meetings as directed. Performs sidewalk and water removal, trash removal, yard-work and parking lot clean up as needed. Accepts extra assignments as needed or requested including general maintenance of park and restrooms. Helps load food into the vehicles for citizens. Assists the Community Center staff with stocking food, loading and unloading. Helps get food bags ready; Willing to carry out all responsibilities as indicated by the immediate supervisor of the Community Center (Sandra Velez). Performs related work as required. (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed or supervised.) WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be honest, fair, courteous in handling and disbursing food. Excellent customer service skills; Ability to work under demanding and stressful situations; Able to work as a team player. Willing to follow directions. Must be dependable, motivated and a self-starter. Flexible and able to work some weekends if needed. Reliable, personal transportation required. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: LIFTING: Must be able to lift and/or move boxes of files, chairs and other office equipment. Lift up to 80lbs-40 to 60 on a regular basis. Ability to bend and lift file and record books. Travel: Local Travel; valid Texas Operator's Driver's License. Other: Work required walking or standing to a significant degree. *
