TEKsystems Systems Administrator in Delaware, Ohio

Work Terms - w2 contract

Hourly Pay Range - 31-40 / hour

Position Overview: The IT Infrastructure Support Specialist at our client is responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance, and monitoring of servers (both virtual and physical) and backup infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the health and stability of the IT environment, addressing issues promptly, and documenting procedures according to company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Tasks: Conduct VM vSphere infrastructure checks to verify server health and troubleshoot any errors.

  • Monitor space utilization in VMWare and ESXi servers, taking necessary actions to increase space if required.

  • Validate backup success and rerun failed backups if necessary.

  • Review email reports related to the ERP/CSM system, ensuring scheduled activities run smoothly.

  • Perform patching for computers and servers, scheduling reboots as needed.

  • Monitor the EDR/Firewall system for normal status and troubleshoot anomalies.

  • Manage firewall log space and perform cleanup as needed.

  • Weekly Tasks: Review the CISA’s report to identify threats or risks within the infrastructure.

  • Check the ERP/CSM system’s admin page for environment health and troubleshoot as required.

  • Monthly Tasks: Perform server patching, ensuring reboots are scheduled to minimize business impact.

  • As Needed (Requests/Issues): Take server snapshots (VMWare) as requested (typically every other week).

  • Monitor and adjust space in the GIS server and client environment.

  • Create virtual servers based on user requests.

  • Modify group policies as needed and approved.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware, Microsoft, Cisco) are a plus.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other IT staff.
