National Jewish Health Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator in Denver, Colorado

Position Summary Under the direct supervision and orders of the physicians, the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring timely ordering, documentation and data entry of durable medical equiptment (DME) and related supplies. The DME Coordinator will provide the highest level of customer service to patients, physicians, and all practice/hospital personnel. Communicating clearly to vendors, patients, and providers. The DME Coordinator will act as a liaison for customer calls, and assist with coordination of care with the Respiratory Therapist.

Essential Duties

Communicates with referral source, DME, pharmacy, and other vendors to process all certifications, orders, and required information. Must be able to provide a high level of product knowledge and educate patients with the equipment they are receiving. Ensures that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operation procedures and compliance programs. Assists with troubleshooting. Performs clinical skills as guided by competency validation. Implements plan for each clinic ahead of time to identify and anticipate potential clinic flow problems; Monitors master schedule; Resolves unexpected patient flow issues. Coordinates telephone communication with patients, families, referring providers and other members of the health team; utilize follow-up system to assure care follow up and coordination is accomplished; tasking by utilizing scripted call backs relaying messages from the clinical licensed professional. Responsible for timely administrative functions to support clinic: manual billing, error correction, data entry, photocopying, prior authorizations, answering unit/clinic phone, taking phone messages, faxing and obtaining records. Provides and documents appropriate education to patients/families utilizing effective teaching skills, scripted teaches and the National Jewish supportive materials as directed by a licensed clinical professional. Precepts and orients new team members to their function in clinic. Other Duties

Cross trained to provide coverage for staff absences and vacancies, as necessary. May be assigned to work on additional projects and tasks, as necessary. Attend monthly meetings with the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Vendors and staff. Competencies
