This position will focus on climate adaptation and hazard mitigation strategy development for communities across the nation in support of Dewberry clients in the Federal, State, local, and commercial space. The role will employ and build on an existing portfolio of strategies to include nature-based, hybrid and gray infrastructure solutions to mitigate an array of climate stressors. Candidates should have exposure to advancing projects through the engineering design and construction process, with an understanding of constructability and permitting needs. Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Resilience Engineer will: Provide technical support to ongoing and future resilience engineering and planning efforts related to transportation, water, energy, and communit facility infrastructure. Support risk and vulnerability analyses of infrastructure considering multiple hazards (e.g., flooding, sea level rise, wind, and heat) and how climate change exacerbates those hazards. Work with a national portfolio of clients to characterize hazard loads, assess operational risks, identify mitigation strategies, and align strategies to funding sources. Apply climate science to inform resilient sectoral planning and design processes, as well as design manuals, policies, codes and standards. Work on diverse, multi-disciplinary teams to hone technical skills and programmatic knowledge. Collaborate with geospatial, computational science and informatics colleagues on developing and implementing technology to increase efficiency, communicate effectively, and accelerate innovation. Support the development of project deliverables including technical analyses, report development, project presentations and communicating findings to clients and stakeholders. Employ a mix of written, visual, and verbal communication techniques to craft compelling narratives and explain complex technical topics to various audiences.
