National Jewish Health School Mental Health Coordinator (LCSW) - Morgridge Academy in Denver, Colorado

Position Summary The School Mental Health Coordinator will promote and enhance the learning process for students through an integration of personal/social and academic development.

Essential Duties

Manages/supervises and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement regarding a variety of student needs. Implements culturally responsive pedagogy and promotes equity and inclusion. Collaborates with families, teachers, staff, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral, academic, and other problems. Promotes family engagement and manages the "Sunshine Saturday" program. Meets with families for care coordination and resource referral. Plans individual and group counseling sessions with students, including keeping notes on behavior and appointments and observing learning habits with a focus on a variety of issues such as anger management, self-esteem, feelings, etc. Observes and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Performs threat assessment and suicide assessment for students as needed. Coordinates and implements our PBIS system, including spearheading anti-bullying initiatives. Manages and develops school mental health staff including evaluation, mentoring, and counseling. Teaches evidence based SEL curriculum. Coordinates eighth grade continuation and transition to high school. Analyzes data to assess student need in math and literacy, provide small group academic intervention, and monitor progress in academics. Provides benchmarking and IEP assessments. Collaborates with team members to support Problem Based Learning. Maintains student confidentially and any other confidential information that is obtained during the performance of duties. Participates in the development and implementation of the school quality improvement plan. Assists with supervision of students during recess, lunch, between classes, and during special events.
