Job Overview:

The Senior Operations Engineer will be responsible for the overall project inter-discipline coordination between members of the operations support groups, throughout one or more project phases of detail design, fabrication, offshore installation and hook-up. It will also be responsible for planning of daily operations (project activities) to meet overall project completion productively. It ensures alignment of fabrication personnel towards planned daily operations (project activities) to meet overall project completion productively. Supervises discipline Production engineers. Identifies production engineer resource needs for the project and communicate these regularly to production engineering manager. Review weekly progress & productivity and provide feedback on factors affecting project performance. Understands the full contractual scope of work, contract type and milestone schedules.

The Senior Operations Engineer will lead constructability reviews and ensure work execution plan is based on the most productive option. Conducts fabrication look ahead meetings and prioritizes material and drawings to suit. Responsible for documenting all scope of work changes and coordinating AFC estimate updates. Responsible for initiating and approving all variance and change orders. Solves technical problems and initiates site queries to ensure work disruption is minimized and productivity is optimized. Lead by example in following the company safety policies. Chairs the weekly project production meeting. Chairs the fabrication look ahead and forecasting requirements of engineering & material deliverables to meet the project schedule.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manages any scope of work changes and ensures AFC estimate is up to date.

  • Understands the scope of work, schedules, specifications and prepare project specific task listing.

  • At commencement of the project, develops fabrication execution plans satisfying the project requirements in the most productive manner.

  • Appraises fabrication management of any project issues which effect the forecasted progress, productivity and schedule commitments.

  • Directs work pack issuance strategy and sets priorities and deliverable dates for the discipline teams.

  • Reviews engineering input dates providing required on site dates suiting fabrication sequence.

  • Reviews material expediting reports and advises Procurement personnel of material priorities, any concerns and mitigation plans as necessary.

  • Solves project specific construction problems with the assistance of construction manager where required.

  • Authorizes site queries/correspondence to be issued to the client.

  • Interfaces with other key project personnel such as project cost engineers, marine operations engineers, Quality manager.

  • Co-ordinates to compile project fabrication lessons learnt.

  • Identifies project risks and opportunities.

  • Establishes a productive working relationship with client representatives.

  • Leads Fabrication proposal efforts on bids as per company procedures.

  • Participates in QHSES initiatives and drives achieving objectives. Follows the company policies.

Essential Education and Qualification:

  • 9+ years in Offshore and Petrochemical Industry or Equivalent.

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Structural Engineering or equivalent

  • Preferable worked as Senior Production Engineer in executing fabrication projects and having multi discipline knowledge.
