Kent General Hospital FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATE in Dover, Delaware
General Summary:
The Food Service Associate performs a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food to customers. The Food Service Associate are expected to maintain high level of departmental sanitation including dishwashing, pot-washing, and cleaning according to policies and procedures. The Food Service Associate may be required to operate cash register or assist with catering services.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Prepares and sets up cafeteria serving/patient tray lines; serves food as directed, using proper portion sizes and serving utensils; sets up menu board and signage reflecting current menu.
Assembles and delivers patient trays in accordance with written menus, established schedules, and procedures.
Assembles snacks and floor supplies with proper identification, labels, and assigns dates to all food stored in the refrigerator.
Serves as a cashier as needed, properly computing prices and providing correct change to customers, and following the established cash handling procedures.
Assists with catering services as needed, including delivery, assembly, and clean-up
Complies with sanitation guidelines in department; operates dish washing machine and washes pots and pans; assists with post-meal clean-up.
Assists in all aspects of food services as trained and necessary.
All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Required Educations and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Some knowledge of foodservice operations required.
Demonstrated work history required.
Prior cash handling (Front of house retail operations only. Not required for back of house.)
Basic computer literacy is required.
This position is required to work weekends and holidays.
Preferred:
Prior food service experience in preparing or packaging food and/or serving food products, prior cash handling.
History working with public
Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
Customer Service oriented
Food Safety Training
HACCP training
Proper hand washing skills
Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Environmental and Physical Requirements:
Works with hot plates, pots and pans, steam tables; exposed to burn hazards, wetness, odors; works with cleaning and sanitizing chemicals; works with kitchen tools and machinery. Safety protocols established.
