Ankura Director, Turnaround & Restructuring in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Role Overview

The Turnaround & Restructuring team works with healthy, under-performing and distressed companies across a variety of urgent, high impact situations. The team helps our clients navigate periods of change or growth and deliver significant improvement in business performance and enterprise value by providing hands on expert level support and advice.

Our team offers financial, operational, and commercial insights to special situations in order to deliver significant improvement to both balance sheet and P&L. We aim to create, protect and recover value by understanding the key business and organizational challenges or growth objectives, identifying tailored solutions, and supporting in the implementation of change and restructuring initiatives to drive a successful outcome.

Suitable candidates for this position will have a strong suite of consulting, performance improvement, financial restructuring, and hands-on experience.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and / or an MBA, and/or evidence of a strong academic record.

  • A degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering or equivalent.

  • Relevant experience with a mix of consulting / advisory and industry experience gained in Big 4, boutique advisory house or a strategy house.

  • Experience in Financial Restructuring, Performance Improvement and Value Creation and Operational Restructuring / Transformation, or either of these:

  • Delivering transformation, turnaround and restructuring programs across multiple markets and industries.

  • Ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders as part of a wider transformation / Restructuring office setup.

  • Demonstrable experience of developing business plans, financial projections, and identifying / implementing restructuring solutions.

  • Experience of identifying and implementing levers to improve performance. Including but not limited to - cost reduction, organization health & redesign, supply chain & procurement, Growth strategies and market analysis, cash and working capital management and optimization, manufacturing optimization, PMI and carve-outs, process mapping and redesign and strategic and business planning.

  • Demonstrable track record in implementing qualitative solutions in multiple workstreams.

  • Deep understanding of business issues and the ability to communicate them effectively to team leaders and clients.

  • Willingness to build professional and personal growth by working in high-impact situations under time-pressure.

  • True passion for achieving ambitious results and working as part of a team.

  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills along with strong financial literacy and modelling.

  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and executive-level presentation skills.

  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of an additional languages (including Arabic) would be advantageous.

  • Willingness to travel as unique projects/needs arise.
