Application Gateway for Containers service is part of the Azure networking team responsible for designing, building and operating network connectivity, application load balancing and security services like ExpressRoute, VPN, Azure Firewall, Bastion, Application Gateway Containers, Web Application Firewall, Virtual WAN and Virtual Network Functions platform.

Azure Application Gateway for Containers is changing the landscape of how customers manage, secure and scale their Kubernetes applications while ensuring trust and fast connectivity to their network. There is an exciting roadmap ahead to provide the best application delivery experience as well as the opportunity to shape the future of this service. The position will involve extensive internal and external collaborations with other Azure/Microsoft teams.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers to design, build and operate this fast paced service at hyper-scale. Responsibilities

  • Mentor and coach team of engineers for achieving goals with agility by providing technical leadership.

  • Managers in Azure Networking as responsible for the service as they drive for execution and results and exhibit quality-oriented mindset.

  • Lead the innovation around architecture, design, and coding by bringing in their expertise and out-of-box thinking. Manage project timelines and define vision of the product by working closely with product managers, leads and partners.

  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers across products, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

  • Seek new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  • Significant technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Golang, Rust, C++, C#, Java, or Python

  • Significant experience in building, leading and growing team of engineers

  • Significant technical experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Networking (TCP/IP, UDP, TLS/SSL, HTTP/HTTPS)

  • Distributed Systems

  • Designing and running large-scale fault-tolerant infrastructure services

  • RESTful Services

  • Knowledge of cloud development

  • Experience with Kubernetes and wider cloud native / Container ecosystem

  • Experience with L4-L7 proxies (Nginx, Envoy, HAProxy)

  • Contribution to open source software projects
