The Senior Director, AI & Data Products is responsible for ensuring our Business Intelligence and Analytics Software Development teams have the right infrastructure to build advanced analytics, build and maintain robust, high quality and secure data-pipelines, data process automation, data management, and to lead R&D for the implementation of AI-driven features in our existing and developing software products.

This role will lead a team of infrastructure, data engineers, data scientists and AI developers. As this is a new pillar to be established the successful candidate will have influence in the further development of the team.

This is a hand-on role where you can expect up to 80% of your time to be hands-on with your team developing leading-edge solutions. This role requires close collaboration with reporting, business intelligence, and software engineering teams.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the Republic or Ireland. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy

• Lead with data: Implement initiatives to gain valuable insights from AI implementation efforts, leveraging data to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Infrastructure

• Rationalize footprint: Optimize our technology footprint, complexity of environments, and associated spend.

• Architect with purpose: Ensure our environment are best able to serve the specific software products and AI processes we’ll be running.

• Simplify and document: Maintain knowledge control over the environments we manage through easy to use documentation.

Data Engineering

• High quality pipelines: Manage data transformation and orchestration processes and ensure they follows industry best practices.

• Quality & Security: Ensure quality and security are built-in end-to-end,from data acquisition, transport to storage.

• Reusability: Manage our data assets and products such that they can be reused for a variety of different processes with little to no rework.

• Standardize and document: Ensure rapid ETL build capabilities by streamlining the creation process and improve knowledge retention by documenting pipelines and orchestration processes.

AI R&D

• Be curious: Approach new projects with a consulting mindset to help craft the best solutions with available information

• Hands-on: Co-create with your team to design and develop cutting-edge technology pilots. Lead efforts to showcase our AI capabilities to clients.

• Design and Execute Pilots: Work closely with startups and internal teams to design, develop, and execute strategic AI technology projects.

• Lead, motivate, and inspire teams: to embrace AI technologies and contribute to the organization's overall success.

• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs): to measure the effectiveness of AI initiatives.

Key questions this role will address:

• How can we leverage engineering excellence and AI to help our users get better insights from their data, faster than existing processes?

• How can we leverage AI to build new products or product features in the analytics space to help our users improve their competitive advantage and improve outcomes?

Required Qualifications

• Progressive experience in AI, machine learning, data science, data engineering or related fields, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.

• Experience using modern AI tools like OpenAI, Claude, Bard or equivalent and deploying them in production environments.

• Experience using SQL (or other Database Management Query Tool) to pull and manipulate data.

• Hold an advanced degree (Masters or PHD), ideally in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.

• Pragmatic leadership skills to drive execution in startup environments and a solid interpersonal ability to engage and collaborate with partners.

• Well-versed in the dynamic AI landscape, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying AI strategies within corporate environments, strategic innovation consulting, and/or AI thought leadership.

• Demonstrate a solid command of AI technologies, machine learning, and natural language processing.

• Forward-thinking and innovative mindset, committed to continuous learning. You stay ahead of the curve in the quickly evolving field of AI by staying abreast of latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the AI space.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

• Exhibit exceptional and influential strategic leadership and guidance that spearheads innovation and translates AI concepts into strategic business value.

• You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic startup environments, with a passion for hands-on solution building, incubation, and scaling, driven by curiosity and experimentation.

• Proficiency in Programming Languages: Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI and machine learning, such as Python, R, or Java

• Cloud Computing Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for AI development, deployment, and scaling

• Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data technologies and tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Apache Cassandra, and distributed computing frameworks for handling large-scale datasets

• Data Engineering: Knowledge of data engineering principles and best practices for data acquisition, transformation, storage, and retrieval in AI applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience shipping products that deploy AI, machine learning, and data science solutions to create meaningful customer value.

• Excellent presentation skills, you are confident in your ability to distill, simplify, and convey complex concepts and technologies to a diverse audience of technical and non technical stakeholders.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making, with a creative mindset to bring innovative opportunities to life through storytelling.
