The Associate Director, Pets Inside Sales is responsible for leading, motivating and managing a team of Inside Sales Representatives to achieve their targeted sales budgets and planned objectives within the allocated resources. This role accomplishes this by overseeing Inside Sales operations and developing and implementing Inside Sales strategies. The incumbent is responsible for implementing the Inside Sales business plan, defining the short-, medium- and long-term growth strategies for the team through insights and opportunities based on monthly performance analysis and relationships. This position requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the Animal Health market.

This role is based in Duluth, GA

Duties & Responsibilities

Inside Sales Plan Development and Execution:

  • In collaboration with leadership, defines the Inside Sales strategy and goals to ensure sales and market share growth in assigned accounts.

  • Executes Inside Sales plan to achieve individual and team sales goals and objectives.

  • Establishes a plan for using all allocated resources to accomplish the sales and planned objectives within budget.

  • Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets formal and informal reports to determine if resources are being used effectively to increase operating results as well as re-directing resources to maximize sales.

  • Actions changes in personnel assignments and territory configurations that will optimize sales results.

  • Regularly monitors and updates the financial potential, targets, trends and share of customer spend to support long range planning and annual budget exercises.

Inside Sales Strategy, Operations and Performance:

  • Develops and implements sales strategies to drive growth and meet revenue targets for assigned accounts.

  • Analyzes market trends, customer needs and competitive landscape to identify opportunities, refine sales strategies and optimize plans appropriately.

  • Oversees sales operations, ensuring effective use of resources.

  • Monitors and reports on key performance metrics, sales activities, and team performance.

  • Implements best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sales effectiveness and operational efficiency.

  • Ensures team maintains and utilizes expert product knowledge and highly effective selling skills to influence customers, driving sales growth.

  • Ensures team executes brand strategies to ensure a consistent company sales and marketing message.

  • Ensures team uses appropriate Boehringer sales training techniques to facilitate the sale.

  • Ensures ISE team utilizes CRM tools to create pre-call plans and keep up to date account records.

Leading and Coaching Inside Sales Team:

  • Directly leads, monitors, and develops a dedicated Inside Sales team.

  • Monitors team members' performance including the development of actionable MAG plans, provides regular feedback, and conducts timely MAG Plan reviews.

  • Contributes to the development of others to enhance the capabilities of the Pet Vet Sales organization ahead of the changing market demands.

  • Oversees the recruitment, selection, and development of top-tier talent.

  • Ensures development of team members by setting goals, providing training opportunities, coaching and quarterly performance evaluations.

  • Recommends merit increases and promotion of ISE team members as appropriate.

Teamwork, Engagement, Collaboration and Communication:

  • Develops and nurtures key contacts with customers and external stakeholders that will have a positive impact on operating results.

  • Ensures strong internal collaboration across the full Boehringer Pet team and cross functional partners.

  • Develops networks, drives execution improvement, explores innovative solutions, and builds productive and mutually beneficial relationships.

  • Maintains accurate, concise, and timely communications with Inside Sales team, wider Pet team and cross functional partners.

  • Leads team meetings and communicate regularly with sales leadership to ensure collaboration.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

Competitive Intelligence, Market & Industry Knowledge:

  • Educates team on market, customer, and industry information to drive higher quality customer interactions.

  • Monitors market conditions for changes that impact the Animal Health business and updates team to ensure changes are incorporated into Inside Sales Representative plans.

  • Continuously gathers knowledge of competitors share with Inside Sales Representatives so that they can effectively position Boehringer's solutions against them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of relevant sales/account management/business operations experience in a competitive selling market in an Inside Sales environment.

  • Two to five (2-5) years’ experience leading teams in sales, marketing, or account management.

  • Animal Health or related experience preferred.

  • Must possess strong leadership and coaching skills to maximize performance results.

  • Must demonstrate an aptitude and desire to sell and gain market share.

  • Knowledge of the Animal Health/Veterinary Clinic Industry economics and drivers preferred.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a matrix team environment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills (verbal and written).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong learning agility.

  • Demonstrated high level of business and financial acumen.

  • Proficiency in various business software applications.

  • Ability to travel, as needed.

  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Authorization and ability to drive a company leased vehicle or authorized rental car.

Eligibility Requirements :

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
