Safety gear may be required during the use of equipment and chemicals. Work requires repetitive bending, stooping, lifting, load carrying, ascending/descending stairs, ladder climbing, pushing and pulling. *Perform General custodial work in all common interior/exterior areas of UMD residential housing, including restrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, study rooms, conference rooms, laundry facilities, entrances, elevators, kitchenettes, lobby areas and other areas as directed by supervisor. Academic year: 50% Scrub and sanitize restrooms and shower rooms using approved cleaning agents and procedures. 25% Floor cleaning including using commercial type vacuum or carpet extractor on carpeting. Sweeping, dust mopping, and wet mopping hard-surface flooring. 10% Collect and transport trash, recycling, and compost to proper pick up sites. Keep trash containers clean 15% Washing walls, fixtures, appliances, furniture, and windows in the assigned work routine. Keep trash containers clean 10% Washing walls, fixtures, appliances, furniture, and windows in the assigned work routine. 30% Project work including hard surface floor stripping and waxing and carpet extraction. *Demonstrate effective, courteous and cooperative behavior to all customers, co-workers and other members of the diverse campus community. *Represent UMD Housing and the University of Minnesota in a positive way by maintaining a professional and neat appearance. *Manage work-time to allow completion of assigned tasks within allotted schedule. *Participate in Team meetings and decisions within the work unit. *Know and follow safety procedures and policies in everyday work. Use protective equipment. *Observe deficiencies in building hardware, doors, windows, fixtures, etc., and write maintenance requests for repair. *Assist in maintaining campus security by opening and/or securing campus outside door and interior room doors, reporting unusual activities to campus police. *Provide snow, ice, and debris removal from building entry areas. *Monitor radio/telephone and respond to trouble calls. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications Ability to read and write competently in English and lift 50lbs to shoulder height.
