The Education Specialist Temporary, in collaboration with Minnesota Sea Grant extension educators, will be responsible for developing a final, review-ready draft of the "Great Lakes Shipping 101" curriculum. This position will facilitate the internal and external review of this curriculum, including CGLL's curriculum review process, respond to and address reviewer feedback, and prepare the curriculum for publishing on Minnesota Sea Grant's website. The Education Specialist Temporary will update existing Minnesota Sea Grant watershed-focused curriculum to meet CGLL curriculum standards and facilitate review through CGLL's curriculum review process, respond to and address reviewer feedback, and prepare the curriculum for publication. The curricula will become part of Minnesota Sea Grant's Educator Resources Program and will be made publicly available on the Center for Great Lakes Literacy website. Job tasks and essential functions Work closely with Minnesota Sea Grant extension educators and partners to refine "Great Lakes Shipping 101" and watershed-focused curriculum to produce final, review-ready drafts in alignment with CGLL curriculum standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Minnesota State Standards (50%). Facilitate internal and external review of the "Great Lakes Shipping 101" and watershed-focused curriculum. Respond to and address reviewer feedback (40%). Prepare reviewed curriculum for publication on Minnesota Sea Grant's website (5%). Present at and participate in the Shoreside Educator Professional Development Workshop (Duluth, MN) during the week of August 5, 2024 (5%). Description of duties Refine lessons, activities, and related instructional materials to adhere to CGLL curriculum standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Minnesota State Standards Address unit feedback and concerns stemming from content review Qualifications Required qualifications Bachelor's degree with at least six years of relevant post degree experience Experience teaching or working with K - 12 youth Experience and ability developing engaging curriculum and/or lesson plans in a K - 12 education setting Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards Core knowledge of science, mathematics, engineering, or related fields Strong written communication skills Organized, detail oriented, focused, independent, and reliable Able to meet deadlines while working independently Familiarity with Google Workspace How To Apply Applications must be submitted online.
