Apply for Job Job ID361862 LocationDuluth Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryTemporary Job Code8352R1 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job NRRI Researcher 1 Temporary Position Summary: The employee will assist several graduate students and researchers by performing routine laboratory tasks in fields of water chemistry (IC and AAS analysis) and environmental remediation (bioreactor, phytoremediation). All training will be provided with direct supervision until the employee is competent to perform each assigned task independently. Processing laboratory samples is the main objective for this position with occasional fieldwork. This is a 70%-time temporary position ending on August 16, 2024. Job Duties: Perform water quality and chemistry including major anions and nutrient analysis for laboratory bioreactor and field samples (40%). Operate lab-scale bioreactors to treat sulfate and nutrients from water (25%). Prepare and assist the field sampling campaigns to collect environmental and biological samples (25%). Conduct laboratory experiments with biochar (10%). Qualifications Required Qualifications BS/BA in Environmental Science, Biology, (Bio)Chemistry or related field, or combination of related education and work experience to equal four years Experience working in a laboratory setting Ability to pay close attention to detail during routine laboratory work Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience performing spectrophotometer and Ion Chromatography Experience in nutrient analysis for environmental samples Experience in field sampling campaign Physical/Environmental Demands: Working with bleach solution. Need to carry/lift items more than 20 lbs. (e.g. environmental samples, cooler, field sampling equipment).
