Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Information Technology Generalist 1 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania

THE POSITION

The Infrastructure and Economic Development Delivery Center in the Enterprise Technology Services Office is seeking a highly motivated information technology (IT) professional to join our team. We support technologies used to provide applications and services to employees and the citizens of Pennsylvania. This position supports multiple facilities and users in the north-central region of Pennsylvania including Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide a wide variety of support, systems enhancement activities, and implementation of new IT initiatives for end users in the district, county, and field offices and sites under PennDOT, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). You will troubleshoot and resolve network issues, install and service hardware and software, and assist users in adapting and applying information technology to work applications. This includes testing and evaluating new products, recommending technology and products for future utilization, and monitoring contractor performance. Work involves hardware and software ranging from workstations, mobile devices, printers, and routers to roadway weather information systems, uninterruptable power supplies, specialized engineering software, unmanned aircraft systems and more.   Significant attention to detail and daily multitasking with a high level of accuracy are essential as you will be expected to determine whether trends suggest larger scale IT problems requiring further escalation. You will also conduct formal classroom and IT technology training for district and county users and serve as the assistant to the District IT Generalist Administrator, acting as IT Coordinator in their absence. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • *Telework: *You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week, after completing a six-month probation in the office full time. Additional telework options may be available depending on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore. 
  • You will be required to make ad hoc visits to various user worksites throughout the assigned geographic area.  Independent local travel as well as occasional transportation of IT equipment is required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician; or 
  • One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or 
  • Three years of information technology e perience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or 
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

     

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
