Assistant Professor/Chair of Aerospace Sciences Institute Professional Pilot

Southeastern Oklahoma State Universities Aerospace Sciences Institute in the John Massey School of Business invites applications for the full-time, tenure track position of Assistant Professor/Chair-Professional Pilot.

SUMMARY

Maintain administrative control of the Professional Pilot academic programs housed within the Aerospace Sciences Institute (ASI). Responsible for the implementation, operational planning, accreditation, and Professional Pilot program curriculum development and delivery. Development and implementation of effective recruitment and marketing campaigns. Insuring compliance with AABI and HLC requirements. Supervising classroom instruction, supervising academic instructors and adjuncts, serve on John Massey School of Business, and Aerospace Sciences Institute (ASI) committees, coordinating university support trips, and reviewing AVIA course syllabi, and course catalog requirements. This position reports to the Director of the Aerospace Sciences Institute (ASI).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determines and implements faculty/staffing requirements and evaluations.
  • Determine and implement academic and training equipment requirements for the Professional Pilot program.
  • Provide classroom and laboratory delivery related to the Professional Pilot curriculum.
  • Develop short and long-range objectives in academic programs and for operational control and development.
  • Work with the ASI Director to deal with recruitment, marketing and promotion of the academic programs.
  • Conduct ASI tours of perspective students, guests, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with AABI and HLC accreditation requirements.
  • Conduct oversight of yearly assessment of Professional Pilot programs in the ASI.
  • Maintain a course load of at least 6 credits each semester.
  • Serve on the Academic Council and Academic Affairs Chairs committee, as appointed.

  • Review aviation student academic and flight records for the purpose of assessments.
  • Serve as aviation faculty and student advisor.
  • Conduct AABI self-study and re-affirmations accreditation reports.
  • Conduct ASI yearly Program Outcome assessments.
  • Scheduling academic classes each semester and assure faculty are appropriately qualified and prepared for these classes.
  • Work with the ASI Director to review ASI budget and expenditures related to the Professional Pilot program.
  • Track and manage annual Transportation Security Administration (TSA) training for all ASI faculty, staff, and student workers.
  • Conduct special assignments, reports, studies, and publishing activities conducive to furtherance of the academic standing in the department and the university.
