Hourly Rate: $21.00-$22.95
Workdays/Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. - Hours flexible
I nternship is primarily in-person with some flexibility for teleworking.Duration: 6 Months
Position responsible for assisting public administration professionals with researching, benchmarking, and writing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational divisions including but not limited to Facilities Maintenance, Landscaping, Urban Forestry, Cemeteries, and Project Management. The intern will research best practices and analyze applicability within City of Durham legal, policy, cultural context, and organizational capacity. Internship will culminate with submission of SOPs for departmental accreditation. Work will be performed under the general supervision of the Asset Management Division Manager in accordance with established policies and procedures
Duties/Responsibilities
Facilitate meetings and discussions with internal stakeholders to gather detailed information about procedures,
Research and benchmark municipal programs addressing best practices, consolidating data for analysis and reporting,
Write clear, concise, and detailed standard operating procedures that are easy to understand and follow,
Provide written report, dataset, visual presentation, and related deliverables for use by the City to successfully propose program implementation,
Weekly progress reports required to ensure project progress in is alignment with implementation deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Must be currently enrolled in and have completed one or more years in an associate, undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university; preference may be given to programs of study which require internship experience for graduation.
Preferred candidate will possess strong written and verbal skills.
