Robert Half Staff Accountant in East Lansing, Michigan

Description

We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our team in the Real Estate & Property industry in East Lansing, Michigan. The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of our team, managing a real estate portfolio, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, and assisting in budgeting and year-end audits. This opportunity offers an exciting chance to apply your analytical skills and positive energy to a variety of accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile various bank statements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency

• Verify, track, and total accounts of business transactions such as property taxes and depreciation

• Monitor progress of routine processes such as monthly financial reporting, annual budgets, and governmental reporting

• Prepare accurate account statements, reports, and other records

• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and compile cost reports, revenue, and balance sheets

• Prepare financial reports for internal and external recipients and reconcile report discrepancies and problems

• Assist in budget preparation for rental properties and management companies

• Review, balance, and interpret computer reports, making corrections as necessary

• Provide assistance to employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services

• Communicate, understand, and solve challenges in an efficient and timely manner, ensuring monthly and yearly deadlines are met

• Apply skills in Bank Reconciliations, Financial Statement Preparation, and Variance Analysis to perform duties.

Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR have 2+ years of relevant work experience

• Demonstrable skills in Bank Reconciliations, Financial Statement Preparation, and Variance Analysis.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Understanding of Real Estate & Property industry is a plus.

• Open to candidates with varying levels of experience, from recent graduates to those with multiple years in the field.
