Job Summary: The role of Senior Global Strategic Sourcing Manager: Play pivotal role in developing and optimizing the organization's global sourcing strategy for commodity categories on a global scale. Responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that drive risk management, efficiency, cost savings, and quality improvements across the supply chain. Requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of global markets and supplier networks. Essential Functions of the Job: Strategic Sourcing Strategy Development: Develop, implement, execute comprehensive short and long-term sourcing strategy roadmap aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Identify and prioritize strategic sourcing opportunities to achieve risk mitigation, increased operational performance, improved supplier performance and cost savings. Stay informed about global market trends, industry best practices, and technological advancements to optimize sourcing strategies and mitigate risks. Supplier Relationship Management: Build, maintain, and deliver value from strong strategic supplier relationships with key suppliers globally. Negotiate contracts and agreements that are favorable to the organization while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement improvement plants as necessary. Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders including operations, business management, commercialization, R&D, SQA, finance and legal teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives. Provide strategic guidance and support to cross-functional teams on procurement-related matters. Risk Management & Compliance: Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as geopolitical, financial, and operational risks. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in sourcing activities. Manage and monitor inventory position reports and make recommendations of long-term coverage based on market environment and current supply and demand landscape. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the sourcing function to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness. Implement tools, processes, and metrics to measure and track sourcing performance and drive accountability. Build a comprehensive procurement toolbox to include negotiation plans to support strategic sourcing, development of solid true-cost models, volume aggregation or bundling, competitive bidding, demand management, identification of new supply models, innovation, cross-portfolio leveraging, low-cost country models, etc. Identify, vet and drive material specification improvement and optimization opportunities. Position Description: Ensure effective communication with coworkers, business partners, suppliers, and customers. Have aptitude to encourage consensus, resolve conflict, solve tough business problems, and work to aggressively meet organizational goals and objectives. Promote ethical procurement practices which include compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedur s as well as federal, state and legal regulations. Improve existing supplier strategy and drive expansion of the supply base. Travel as necessary to facilitate new supplier onboarding. Supervisory Responsibilities: May have supervisory responsibility of support positions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics or related field. Proven experience (7+ years) in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management roles. Preferred Qualifications: Certification(s) such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). Experience in implementing sustainable sourcing practices and managing supplier diversity programs. Familiarity with international trade regulations and logistics management. MBA. Knowledge and Skills: Strategic thinker with a global mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Demonstrated success in developing and executing global sourcing strategies that deliver against risk management, significant cost savings and operational improvements. Proven strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management and supplier relationship management. Ability to successfully toggle between strategic and detail oriented, hands-on tactical thinking. Strong ability to develop relationships, communicate effectively and influence others. Possess strong business acumen and experience managing strategic supply chains and cost models. Deep working knowledge of food manufacturing sourcing categories. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Excellent communicator, capable of working in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing extraordinary objectives. Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Oracle or other ERP system. Additional Considerations: Travel: Travel is required to various SunOpta location, Supplier Site Visits, Industry Seminars, and for meetings or other job-related functions. Location: This position will be at our Corporate Office in Eden Prairie, MN. Work Environment: Approximately 95% of this role will be performed in an office environment; approximately 5% of work may be in an agricultural or manufacturing environment.
