American Family Insurance - Corporate Underwriting Team Manager (Flex Office/Home) in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

You will manage an operations underwriting area. You will provide leadership and technical support through management of people and processes. You will manage the underwriting activities to provide products and services to customers that balance profit and growth. You will establish, implement, and monitor underwriting standards for risk selection to achieve divisional and department goals. You will maintain primary authority for underwriting decisions. You may specialize in one or more products within property/casualty or specialty areas.

In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Denver, CO 80112; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; St. Joseph, MO 64507; Phoenix, AZ 85034;

Position Compensation Range:

$84,000.00 - $139,000.00

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will create a collaborative, performance-driven work environment by facilitating and promoting trust, transparency, and inclusion. You will work with team members to set clear goals, provide feedback, perform performance assessments, and support ongoing development.

  • You will lead with influence and expertise. You will contribute to division or department leadership team. You will communicate and support organization mission, vision, values and policies.

  • You will manage the underwriting activities of risk analysis, risk selection, and appropriate applications of coverages.

  • You will monitor work assignments based on skill level and establish training programs to build technical expertise.

  • You will maintain an awareness of industry trends affecting risk selection.

  • You will manage the underwriting of unique, complex policies.

  • You will ensure compliance of underwriting operations with state and federal regulations and divisional procedures.

  • You will research and respond to field, customer, and insurance department complaints.

  • You will implement practices to promote profit and growth.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • You have demonstrated experience providing customer-focused solutions or support.

  • You have demonstrated leadership experience.

  • You understand insurance, underwriting guidelines and risk concepts in area of expertise.

  • You have demonstrated analytical skills to review complex cases and review lines or books of business.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%.
