The Aladdin Platform team is responsible for engineering and operating the core service layer that powers Aladdin. We sit at the center of enabling the delivery of products and features in Aladdin for BlackRock and the largest financial institutions in the world. As the pace of growth of Aladdin accelerates, the Platform Team is laser focused on the speed of product delivery, execution predictability and quality. The Platform team is responsible for a suite of foundational and modern products including API Management, Orchestration, Cloud Infrastructure and CI/CD Pipelines. The Platform product management office helps to catalyse our engineering community, delivering well-defined Platform products that have clear outcome-oriented roadmaps and efficient and predictable delivery.

Job background

The Enterprise Engineering group builds products for our corporate functions of Finance, HR and Legal/Compliance. The products we own are either home-grown Aladdin developments or third-party applications that we integrate into our BlackRock and Aladdin ecosystems. We are looking for an all-rounder to drive transformation and delivery of our Enterprise Engineering products. This all-rounder will have skills as a product manager primarily and you will be responsible for defining product strategy, vision, and you’ll own the product roadmap. You will work hand in hand with engineering to drive strategic outcomes, adoption and ultimately enable fast delivery of Aladdin features and unlock commercial opportunities. You have experience in delivering scalable, flexible engineering products. Additionally, on top of your core product management skills, we’re looking for talent that can pivot into multiple disciplines. These disciplines are not fixed, but skills in the project management, scrum master and QA (quality assurance) spaces will complement the role well.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and KPIs that will transform and differentiate the offering; You will do this by translating our EE strategy, stakeholder priorities, and our users’ needs into a product vision and feature priorities.

  • Drive value realization through incremental release and the adoption of those features.

  • Influence senior stakeholders & partners to draw alignment on vision and deliver the highest value product offering with the greatest opportunity.

  • Drive product execution by defining, building and launching on our product evolution. You will prioritize the build across features and oversee delivery.

  • Demonstrate an expert understanding of target customer personas, particularly their needs and their pain points, including developers (both external and internal) and integrators.

  • Manage dependencies across teams to ensure alignment and mitigate risks.

  • On top of core product management responsibilities, an ideal candidate will possess skills in basic project management, scrum management and fundamental QA (quality assurance/testing) areas.

  • Ultimately, we are looking for an individual who can take emotional ownership of a product and pivot quickly into many different roles in order to remove blockers to a successful product increment release.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Product management experience of minimum 2 years, leading all aspects of development from vision to delivery and adoption.

  • Technical understanding of PDLC, SDLC, DevOps and CI/CD pipelines

  • Can navigate ambiguity with ease

  • Significant experience of delivering technology implementations using agile development methodologies.

  • Teamwork - ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team.

  • Excellent communication skills in navigating a matrixed organization, tell compelling stories with ease to senior executives, and inspire teams about things that should exist that don’t exist yet

  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to use sound data and logic to make compelling business cases.

  • A bias toward action and a proven track record of delivering at rapid speed.

  • Any experience in project management, scrum master/agile management, QA is highly desirable.

Our hybrid work model
