Network System Administrator
ATEC is looking for a Computer Scientist to support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS). You will work with our current hardware database team as a network system administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving all networking equipment in a mixed Linux and Windows based environment. This individual will also be asked to occasionally offer support to other team members in resolving complex issues within the system and/or providing expert guidance on networking best practices, as well as document and test solutions. They will occasionally interface with outside vendors to resolve issues outside the scope of RMLS.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Configuring network hardware (servers, routers and switches).
Manage Firewall, Load balancers.
Upgrading and repairing computer networks.
Troubleshooting network issues.
Assisting network architects with the design of network models.
Deploying and updating software.
Managing servers and their operating systems.
Implementing security measures.
Developing test processes and procedures.
Performing testing.
Managing cloud and physical network storage.
Create and update network related documentation.
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS:
Network infrastructure knowledge.
Implement, administer and troubleshoot network devices.
Application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
Digital security.
Checkpoint firewalls.
F5 load balancers/proxy servers.
Linux Knowledge.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attends and may lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings
Reports issues and problems and recommends solutions. Performs other related duties in line with tasks assignments
RMLS Field Support 24x7 as needed

EDUCATION/YEARS of EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor?s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twenty (20) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field
OR
- Master?s Degree in any field of study with a minimum thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and sixteen (16) years related work experience in a computer science or math field
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US
Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation
Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years

Located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center
Some lifting may be involved
After hours install and support as needed
May require travel
