What You Will Do

Assists with and performs tapping and plugging activities in repair and maintenance of pipelines, purging activities and introducing gas on new pipeline installs.

Tap and plug distribution and high-pressure pipelines.

Oversee assembly, handling, operation, and disassembly of tapping and plugging equipment for safest and most efficient completion of projects.

Assist with diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of tapping and plugging equipment. Stay current on all equipment maintenance and operational procedures to ensure consistently superior performance.

Operate within company and governmental safety standards and procedures. Identify and respond to unsafe operating conditions to prevent bodily harm and damage to property and equipment.

Maintain inventory and equipment stockroom; order equipment, parts, and supplies. Stock and maintain tapping truck to ensure essential tools are available for each job.

Provide information and assistance to employees, customers, and others regarding tapping and plugging operations. May assist in training employees in tapping and plugging activities.

Prepare and maintain various logs/records including:

• Tools and equipment usage

• Mileage reports

• Requisitions/order forms

• Timesheets

• Test and repair logs

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned

What You Will Need

Demonstrated ability and knowledge related to tapping and plugging operations performed in repair and maintenance of pipelines.

Demonstrated ability in use and function of applicable tapping and plugging equipment and other types of manual tools.

Experience with the application of arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), and algebraic formulas in order to calculate travel distance applications.

Experience and training relative to:

• Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

• Equipment and tool room and inventory procedures

• Emergency notification procedures

Communications skills

Operate and repair tapping and plugging equipment.

Experience reading and interpreting maps, job orders, purchase orders, materials requisitions, dials, gauges, governmental regulations, policies and procedures, training materials, and applicable operation and repair manuals.

Experience compiling and preparing information including testing and repair logs, equipment usage reports, and purchase requisitions.

Train, interact and communicate effectively.

Read and write fluently in English.

Class A CDL required.

Operator Qualification certification.

Stationary for extended periods.

Kneel/stoop for extended periods.

Travel over uneven terrain including:

• Mud

• Gravel

• Sand

• Rocks

• Ice

• Snow

Climb into and out of excavations.

React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

Smell odorant in natural gas.

Detect and react to warning signals at work sites.

Operate tools and equipment required.

Mobility to travel in and around work sites and to other regions or offices.

Communicate and exchange verbal and written information and instructions including use of company two-way radio.

Visually distinguish between colors.

Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception.

Visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
