Greater Southern Tier BOCES COMPUTER SERVICES COORDINATOR OR ADMINISTRATOR OF TECHNOLOGY in Elmira, New York
Full-time (1.0 FTE) 8-hour day, 12 month position

Develops and assists in the planning and implementation of school district, building, and BOCES’ technical networking systems
In collaboration with district employees, develop and coordinate the implementation of the organization’s technology plan, based on instructional and administrative needs in relation to the organization’s strategic goals
Prepares and submits required and appropriate reports
Reviews and updates acquisition procedures and maintains an inventory of computer/technology related equipment
Organizes training and awareness sessions on the use of administrative and instructional software applications and hardware technology
Coordinates computer assisted instruction and computer managed instructional system
Assists in the integration of technology applications in K-12 curriculum
Supervises technical assistance on computer applications
Assists building administrators in the development and implementation of technology programs and budgets
Chairs technology committees
Acts as the liaison between the organization’s staff and technology vendors, making recommendations for purchases
Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
This is a competitive Civil Service position. The selected candidate must possess this title, be among the top three of a binding Civil Service Certificate of Eligibles List for this title, or be among the top three after taking the required Civil Service exam for this title.
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences or a related field AND one year experience in the use of technology as it relates to computer hardware and software in an environment of networked microcomputers OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree in computer sciences or a related field AND three year experience in the use of technology as it relates to computer hardware and software in an environment of networked microcomputers OR
Graduation from High School or possession of a GED and five years experience in the use of technology as it relates to computer hardware and software in an environment of networked microcomputers OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience as described above.
Thorough knowledge of computer hardware and software, administrative methods, procedures and policy, principles, practices, and procedures of modern management; working knowledge of the applications of major types of computer hardware and software; ability to plan, organize, and manage the implementation of projects; communicate effectively; exhibits a high level of interpersonal skills by demonstrating an ability to work cooperatively with people.
