Greater Southern Tier BOCES DIRECTOR OF COMPUTER SERVICES in Elmira, New York
FULL-TIME, 8-HOUR DAY, 12 MONTH PER YEAR POSITION
Full-time (1.0 FTE), 8-hour day, 12-month position
Responsible for the overall operation and direction of the Center’s technology function including the strategic design, acquisition, management and implementation of the technology infrastructure and technology-related services to meet district/customer changing needs.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining technology standards necessary for a regional and centrally managed IT function and ensuring compliance with federal/state laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Develop and manage the Center’s budget and multiple service budgets.
Oversee the development of Disaster Recovery Planning, Systems Security and Cyber Security Plans to ensure the safe access and storage of district/customer data and information.
Participate with the New York State Education Department in planning and developing technology services for educational purposes.
Serve as one of twelve Directors on the statewide Regional Information Center Directors Council
Serve as a member of the GST BOCES Cabinet
Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations, including directing/managing/evaluating programmers/Web developers, testing/data collection staff, technology coordinators and Center supervisors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
New York State certification as School District Leader, School District Administrator, School District Business Leader, or School Business Administrator
Thorough knowledge of information technology systems, procedures, networking, telecommunications, and applications.
Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of management.
Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others, strong leadership, and communication skills.
OR
Meet the following Competitive Civil Service requirements:
Possession of a Master’s Degree and two (2) years of management, supervisory or administrative experience in computer services; or
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree and four (4) years of management, supervisory or administrative experience in computer services.
SALARY RANGE: Dependent upon related work experience. Plus a comprehensive benefit package.
