BUSINESS BANKING PORTFOLIO MANAGER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Primary responsibility is to work directly with assigned business banking clients on a daily basis in the appropriate business segment and/or geographic areas in handling all areas of relationship management with these clients. Actively engages in the sales process to ensure the attainment of team and individual goals and objectives, while ensuring CNB credit quality and risk management guidelines are maintained. Presents a variety of product solutions to meet client needs. Provides responsive quality service. Average Portfolio size will be 100-125 Clients. Manages overall relationship profitability and portfolio risk and is responsible for profitable growth of the assigned portfolio. This may be accomplished through active calling efforts, by providing the CNB exemplary level of service, identifying and promoting solutions to customer needs, and maintaining an active client calling program.Preferred to be in good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and be registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry" (NMLS); or must be able to be registered under the Safe Act.

What you will do

  • Utilizes a high degree of creativity and independence in developing and managing a large portfolio of diverse and complex business banking relationships.

  • Works closely with existing clients to understand their specific financial requirements and provide effective solutions, while maintaining the credit quality standards of the bank.

  • Prepares a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client. Develops a strong understanding of company, industry, business and needs to assist in client calling efforts. Sets objectives for each relationship in terms of cross sell opportunity and revenue contribution, etc.

  • Calls on existing clients to discuss and promote all Bank products and services in order to establish a total client banking relationship. Discusses financing opportunities and general business conditions; may assist in forecasting clients’ credit needs and develops solutions to serve their financial needs. Brings in product specialists, as necessary, to help problem solve or structure transactions.

  • Negotiates transactions; prices loan and deposit products within targeted rate of return; documents and closes loan transactions, ensures conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements. Exercises sound credit and risk judgement in submitting transactions. Ensures the quality of all business introduced to the Bank.

  • Maintains awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in market conditions.

  • Functions as part of a cohesive unit to service client transactions and is responsible for maintaining and increasing portfolio profitability while prudently managing risk.

  • Fully functional in delivering all components related to business client relationships, including additional account integration, service requests, and risk management. Responsible for appropriately profiling clients during the relationship review process and actively identifies cross sell opportunities of CNB products and services.

  • Relationships in portfolio may contain numerous accounts requiring extensive operational expertise to manage workflow to match client needs, risk control and maximize cross selling potential

  • Interfaces with other Bank departments including the branches within their assigned area as necessary. Defines responsibilities and coordinates objectives for all product areas in a relationship or transaction. Resolves all client needs and any internal issues.

  • Works with business partners to deliver solutions in order to maintain and grow client relationships.

  • Actively engages and works with clients in the collection of all financial items to ensure clients stay within City National Bank's required loan covenants as stated in client loan documents.

  • Ensures that decisions made are consistent with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable regulations, and that the risk associated with those decisions can be effectively managed.

  • Monitors portfolio for quality, risk and adherence to policy. Works with the appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.

  • Analyzes problem credits and meets with client to develop solutions to minimize loss exposure.

  • Complies fully with all Bank Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.).

Must-Have*

  • Minimum 10 years of banking experience required.

  • Minimum 8 years of commercial lending experience within the segment required.

  • Minimum 5 years of credit experience required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Bank operations, policies and procedures and regulatory compliance.

  • Good understanding of all products and services applicable to target client segment.

  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good problem solving skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills

  • Superior client relationship skills

  • Sound credit analysis and accounting skills.

  • Must be capable of working well independently and in teams.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
