Department Summary

University Advancement is responsible for strategically positioning the UO with its various constituents and securing resources to further its aims. The division consists of approximately 200 employees primarily working out of Eugene and Portland. Departments within University Advancement include: Advancement/UO Alumni Association; Development; Stewardship and Public Events; Advancement Operations; Federal Affairs; and State and Community Affairs.

The University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA) makes the UO stronger by fostering lifelong relationships, helping Ducks become champions and cheerleaders, ambassadors and advocates, for the university. Launched in 1879 with five alumni, the UOAA is proud of its long history of keeping alumni connected to the university and offering a wide array of opportunities for service. Position Summary

The Alumni Relations Assistant (assistant) supports all the functions of the constituencies of the alumni association including formally recognized groups such as chapters and affinity groups and supports the marketing, registration, and execution of events and programs. This position serves as the office’s main receptionist and assists the UOAA staff in their event preparation. Responsibilities include assisting alumni who contact the UOAA, providing event support for alumni association events including reunions, Duck Career Network events, pregame football events, chapter and affinity programs, board meetings, and other assigned activities, as well as overseeing front desk student staff.

Minimum Requirements

• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

• An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology OR

• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the University of Oregon and its programs.

• Experience with client and external constituency customer service.
