Job Description Summary

The Senior Staff Engineer - Systems Engineering will report to the Senior Engineering Section Manager - Systems Engineering within Edison Works’ Advanced Product Development (APD) Section. The APD section is responsible for executing a military CAT1 NPI program commonly referred to as “NGP3.” The team will progress an F110 derivative engine concept through design, development, vehicle integration, and testing. Technology upgrades will be introduced across all modules as necessary to meet challenging customer requirements.

The Senior Staff Engineer - APD Systems Engineering is a key engineering leadership team member who drives program execution to delight the customer and meet or exceed customer technical requirements while protecting GE interests. This leader will own the development of advanced propulsion system subsystems, components, and modules. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated leader who effectively works across the enterprise and with multiple external customers to ensure coordination, cooperation, and execution of program efforts.

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process that consider both the business’ needs and the technical needs of the customers. Systems engineers execute a robust design, creation, and optimization of systems. This is done by identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating alternate system design concepts, performing design trade studies, selecting/implementing the best designs, and verifying that the design is properly integrated and executed.

This role has significant autonomy. High levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen are required to achieve outcomes.
