WHAT IS EXETER JOB CORPS ACADEMY?Located right near the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI, we teach eligible young people from underserved communities the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Our center specializes in Culinary Arts, Welding/Construction, Electronics Engineering, and Patient Care.

EMPLOYMENT AT EXETER JOB CORPSEmployment at Exeter Job Corps in the Finance Department is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, employment verification, education verification, a credit check, and motor vehicle record search.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This individual manages Exeter Job Corps' financial accounting systems in compliance with Company, Center, and Government requirements. Ensures systems, processes and deliverables are established and executed accurately and timely. Analyzes systems and data, using proper judgment and discretion to resolve issues and problems. Ensures effective finance services are delivered to staff and students. Maintains and develops adequate controls to prevent and avoid fraud and abuse. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Ensures payroll, accounts payable and all financial systems are accurate

  • Monitors contract compliance with Center, Corporate and Governmental financial policies and procedures to ensure that costs are allowable and are properly allocated to cost centers

  • Accurately allocates expenditure of contract funds and analyzes and interprets accounting data

  • Ensures efficient, accurate and timely management of the Job Corps student pay systems and processes in coordination with Student Records function

  • Supports the Student Government Association to manage the student store and teaches financial literacy workshops to young adults preparing to join the workforce

  • Works with other departments to ensure success of Finance/Accounting department and to educate and support in budgetary spending

  • Maintains adequate systems and controls to prevent theft, fraud and abuse

  • Other duties as assigned

    MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION

  • Manages Center financial, payroll and accounts payable systems, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of product

  • Has one direct report - Bookkeeper

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field

  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience required

  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications required

  • Must successfully pass company finance skills test
