Summary: As a Gerber Cutter is vital to our success and is responsible for using patterns and cutting out pieces of heavy duty and soft fabric to be used in production. You will work in a light-filled, state of the art manufacturing facility, with a team of highly motivated and skilled team members to build our award-winning proprietary safety, survivability and technology equipment.

Responsibilities - As a Gerber Cutter at United Safety Group, you will: Use a variety of hand tools and equipment, following standardized sheets, drawings, samples and verbal instructions. Make certain correct material is spread based on marker requirements. Ensure correct number of plies of material is spread. Make certain material is labeled and logged correctly for traceability. Inspect material for defects and verify parts meet qualifications from work order. Focus on attention to details throughout all stages of work to meet quality objectives and to eliminate scrap (waste), quality rejects and the need for rework. Check your own work and ensure all aspects of the fabric cutting are complete and correct. Provide others with sufficient information and support to accomplish team goals. Maintain an organized & clean workstation and work to help maintain that the rest of the facility is organized and clean as well; leaving each area better than it was found. Work cooperatively with assigned production team and, as needed, work positively with other teams to provide any assistance to any area and/or department required. Maintain the appropriate training and skill sets necessary, seek out cross-training and other opportunities to grow and improve. Be constantly conscientious about workplace safety; observing all the company rules and safety practices. Understand that all team members will need to pitch in, in other areas, as needed to help meet our goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements You're a great fit for this position if this describes you; High school diploma or equivalent and may have additional relevant training, such as shop class, blueprint reading or machine shop. Must be able to accurately read and use a ruler/ yardstick. Experience in working with different raw materials: soft fabrics, hard plastics a plus. Must be able to spread and lay material according to what the cut sheet says Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions and procedures. Ability to focus on results. You have exceptional motor coordination and can easily use a variety of tools in a safe manner. You are able to follow verbal and written instructions, directions and other communication in English. Performing basic shop math calculations (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, measuring and converting decimals) is something you are experienced in. You have some experience reading simple blueprints & read drawings. Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for up to 12 hours a day in something you can handle.
