Interior Community Health Center Accounting Technician in Fairbanks, Alaska

Under the general direction and supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, this position is responsible for accounts receivable/payable and payroll activities.

**Minimum Qualifications:

*Education High School Diploma or Equivalent

*Experience Two years experience in accounts receivable, payable and payroll required. Cultural competence in working with diverse populations required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Remain at work for their entire work schedule.
  2. Receives and processes daily deposits and credit card transactions.
  3. Process outgoing mail.
  4. Contacts corporations vendors as necessary to obtain price estimates and to maintain accurate and timely accounts.
  5. Coordinates purchases of goods and services ordered through ICHC purchase requisitions.
  6. Orders, receives and maintains supplies and furnishings.
  7. Coordinates equipment maintenance.
  8. Ensure all transactions, including credit card, have appropriate support attached (signed purchase requisition, invoices, etc.).
  9. Receives, verifies, processes (including coding off Chart of Accounts, entry into and printing from automated accounting software, routing and mailing) corporation invoices. Generates vendor checks weekly.
  10. Generates account payable reports.
  11. Prepares and processes payroll and related quarterly reports (941, state wages).
  12. Prepares W-2s and 1099s for accountants review.
  13. Maintains accurate invoice and vendor files.
  14. Tracks, reconciles and backs up specialized reports for accurate accounts payable (postage, etc.).
  15. Tracks and reports on unclaimed properties.
  16. Processes patient refunds and patient checks returned for non-sufficient funds.
  17. Prepares bills for miscellaneous income (e.g. medical records fees, physicals, etc.)
  18. Processes and deposits cash receipts. Performs drawer audits.
  19. Integrates work with other staff to ensure timely and accurate workflow.
  20. Participate in ongoing continuous quality improvement activities.
  21. Participates in meetings.
  22. Complies with Centers policies and procedures.
  23. Utilizes personal computer and specialized office equipment
  24. Other duties as assigned.
