Job Title: Electrician
Location: Fairbanks North Star Borough School District
Pay Range: $34.18-$44.21 per hour (DOE)
Position Overview: We are seeking a Journeyman Electrician to perform installations, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems and equipment. This role requires expertise in fieldwork, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical fixtures, wiring, and controls.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Communicate with other departments, vendors, and code officials as needed.
- Maintain and safeguard district tools, vehicles, and equipment.
Qualifications: Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a vocational school or recognized apprenticeship in the trade.
- Four (4) years of journeyman-level experience.
- Valid State of Alaska electrician license and drivers license.
- Knowledge of building and electrical codes, blueprint reading, and safe work practices.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., work in extreme temperatures, and perform manual tasks.
Preferred:
- General knowledge of other building trades to assist as needed.
Work Environment: This role includes working in various settings such as mechanical rooms, tight spaces, and outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures. Occasional use of respirators may be required.
