Job Posting: Electronics Technician Location: Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) Work Schedule: 12 months

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to perform journeyman-level maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting for various electronic systems. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability of fire alarms, master clocks, intercoms, security systems, CCTV, audio/visual equipment, and more, while adhering to industry standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary Functions:

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electronic systems, including:
    • Fire alarms, master clocks, intercoms, intrusion detection, access controls, security systems, CCTV, MATV, scoreboards, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and district policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.

• Secondary Duties:

  • Collaborate with staff and vendors to clarify work orders and acquire parts.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment

• Utilize various hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and trade-specific tools.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and outdoor environments.
• Work may involve ladders, scaffolding, and tight areas.
• District provides personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

Required:

• Proficiency in craft techniques and knowledge of building and fire codes.
• Basic math and algebra skills.
• Effective English communication skills (oral and written).
• Valid drivers license and relevant state certifications.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Capability to lift up to 70 lbs.

Preferred:

• Completion of a vocational trade school program or two years of trade experience.
• General knowledge of other building trades for cross-functional tasks.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Physical: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and climbing ladders. Ability to perform light to medium manual labor.
• Mental: Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and decision-making under pressure.
