Description

Shannon and Wilson's Fairbanks office provides geotechnical and environmental engineering services throughout Alaska. Fairbanks is known as the Gateway to the Arctic and is located 200 driving miles south of the Arctic Circle and 125 miles north of Denali National Park. With a population of about 100,000, the Golden Heart City is the farthest North U.S. city with road, rail and air access. Fairbanks' central location allows our office staff the ability to travel to unique projects in remote and rural areas of Alaska. Its character has been shaped by a history of gold mining, a large military presence, construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, the continuing oil economy, and the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the founding campus of the University of Alaska system. Shannon and Wilson supports a variety of charitable and community-involvement organizations through volunteer hours, donations and financial contributions.
