Who we are

HII - Mission Technologies Division is currently seeking a Government Accounting Financial Analyst to join our Government Accounting team. This position can be a remote opportunity (travel 1-2 times a year to McLean, VA or Virginia Beach, VA may be needed). You will need to have a demonstrated ability to organize, complete data analysis, and support a wide variety of different functional areas in a matrixed assignment. Come join our growing team today!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of responsibilities to monitor MTD for all aspects of compliance with the U.S. Federal DOD Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

  • Research and perform actions to comply with other government branch acquisition regulations (Ex: Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Justice) in a fast paced, often competing and changing priority environment.

  • Actively participate in producing and maintaining internal and external government accounting deliverables and requirements: ex: Disclosure Statements, Management review of Business Systems, Incurred cost Submissions, Cost Accounting Standards audits, Labor Charging Internal audits, and Defense Contract Audit Agency floor checks.

  • Assist the Compliance Team to maintain a comprehensive Government compliance program that includes coaching, formal training, and various forms of communication to build, maintain, and improve Government compliance capability and control.

  • Respectfully challenge any inconsistencies in full transparency and collaboration to ensure full compliance, and aggressively address and fix issues.

What you need to have:

  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Bonus points for:

  • Understanding and application of U.S. Government regulations for Defense Contracts and Public Financial Reporting requirements; FAR, CAS, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/SOX requirements.

  • Experience working with external U.S. Federal government agency representatives and auditors (DCMA, buying commands, DCAA).

  • Experience maintaining the Disclosure Statement of a major U.S. Federal government contractor.

  • Experience generating General Dollar Magnitude and Detailed Cost Impacts required for changes in cost accounting practices.

  • Strong analytical skills to understand complex indirect rate, intermediate and service center cost pool structures and able to document and explain same to internal management and external auditors.

  • Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint and COGNOS.
