GDIT is seeking a Sr Director of Strategic Estimation with a background in technical and cost estimation to lead a team of experienced resources that support capture and proposal efforts for GDIT’s largest and most complex opportunities, creating cost estimates of GDIT solutions. This is a leader/change agent/player/coach role where you will be responsible for instituting and gaining adoption of company-wide process and leading and managing the Strategic Estimation team as they assist with creation of Estimates and Basis of Estimate (BOE) for our highest priority opportunities, helping to drive our technical and business solutions. This role is a critical role that will enable the growth of GDIT. The extent of our portfolio and the scale of our $9B company ensure that you can take on new challenges and new roles as our business and mission-impact expands.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Manage the resources on the Strategic Estimation team, working with the division growth and technical leadership to understand and meet demand, assigning resources to opportunities, monitoring their progress, and enhance their skills and careers.

  • Develop, build and refine standard estimation processes, re-useable estimation tools, methods, and training.Rollout the processes, tools, methods and training to all relevant and involved resources at GDIT and ensure adoption and process.

  • Build, rollout and maintain a technical estimation metrics data base that utilizes relevant estimating metrics from GDIT contracts.

  • Grow the estimating competency of the Strategic Estimation team and Division Solution Architect/Estimator as well as grow the understanding of the strategic importance of technical estimation across GDIT.

  • Work with Capture and Solution teams in Strategy and Pre-proposal phases to identify, benchmark and collect relevant budget and estimating metrics that can be used to create defendable technical estimates.

  • Lead estimating activities on large and complex proposals, including creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Work Package Descriptions, selection of estimation methodologies, developing estimating rationale, metrics collection as well as traditional BOE development.

  • Facilitate Technical Estimate reviews to make sure all scope and requirements have been adequately estimated and have a sufficient, defendable justification.

  • Develop and deliver training on estimation process, estimating techniques and methods to Capture, Solution Architects, Proposal Managers, Pricing and Program Management as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of related experience; OR in lieu of degree, a combination of education, training, certifications, and related work experience may be considered.

  • 5+ years experience related to IT estimation in a technical, program control, or project management capacity.

  • Management experience leading change and building and leading high performing teams.

  • Experience with metrics based estimating methodologies.

  • Excellent leadership, collaboration and communications skills; with the ability to influence others in a complex cross team environment. Must be able to work collaboratively with other members of the pursuit and proposal teams while still driving development of estimates and creation of BOEs under tight deadlines.

  • Must be a collaborative, positive and forward-thinking leader with a record of change, problem solving, managing diverse / complex projects and producing results.

  • Ability to write clearly and precisely and pay meticulous attention to details.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Parametric cost estimation tool experience (SEER, QSM, TruePlanning or others)

  • Experience with development or delivery of IT Services

  • Secret or higher Clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $184,662 - $241,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
