Position Background and Scope

Teledyne Brown Engineering has provided software engineering, modeling and simulation, and advanced analytics in support of DoD operational health and readiness since 2001. Our team works directly with the military medical community at the Service, Combatant Command, Joint Staff, and DoD HQ levels.

We are seeking a Navy Medicine Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Advanced Analytics team. This team develops, maintains, and delivers decision support capability tools to the U.S. Navy operational medical community and planners at Echelons I, II, and III. The primary objective of the role is to work directly with our customers to provide insights and solve problems in support of Navy Medicine’s mission, force readiness, and health care management.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne is seeking a Navy Medicine Subject Matter Expert to support Advanced Analytic efforts within the DoD Medical Enterprise. The candidate will work with data scientists, business analysts, and data engineers to identify opportunities and to execute projects of executive interest. The candidate will work with leadership, managers, and technical staff across the Navy Medicine Enterprise. They will work to understand business needs, provide internal and external advice on the development of projects and technical plans, and deliver results while building relations and becoming a trusted advisor. Candidate will advise technical staff on Service and DoD Medicine data systems, processes, and organizational roles and responsibilities. As a customer advisor, the candidate will provide the voice of the customer in relevance, potential impact, and functional appropriateness as we design and execute studies and analysis projects related to medical manpower, force readiness, medical force training and certification, data and metric support, and related topics. The candidate will participate in the preparation of white papers, concept papers, technical reports, meeting summaries, decision and other briefs, outlines, draft reports, publications, and documentation to support strategic-level decisions. This is a remote work position with a requirement to reside within commuting distance of the Falls Church, VA customer to support in-person meetings. This position may require frequent travel to other locations to meet customer requirements.

Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s Degree preferred (Bachelor’s Degree acceptable) in Health Care Management, Business Administration or Health Sciences, Operations Research, Business Science, or other analytical field

  • 10+ years of progressively more responsible roles in analytic work supporting a large enterprise, including at least 4 years in support of Navy Medicine at a headquarters or staff level

  • Superb communication skills with the ability to elicit goals, needs, and outcomes with leadership at all levels across different functions

  • Excellent action officer skills to design, develop and represent business products

  • Possess, or able to obtain, a SECRET security clearance

Highly Desirable Skills and Characteristics

  • Experience working headquarters-level analytics projects within the Department of Defense (DoD)

  • Experience working within the Military Healthcare System

  • Experience working with Navy operational, readiness, or mobilization topics

  • Experience includes regular interaction with staff and senior leaders

Citizenship Requirements

Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be able to gain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance.
