Job Summary

The Journeyman Plumber inspects, assembles, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain to ensure continuous operation of drainage, piping and stationary equipment according to specifications or plumbing codes. Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment:

The Journeyman Plumber performs skilled technical work in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of domestic water systems, heating water systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewers, gas pipe (both threaded and fusion welded), steam and condensate pipes, and fire protection systems in all building structures and grounds following recognized procedures and techniques of the plumbing trade and ability to interpret blueprints, and schematics.

The Journeyman Plumber maintains the heating, water, gas and plumbing systems using hand and power tools such as sewer auger or vacuum plunger, acetylene torch, soldering and welding equipment, sewer camera, pipe locator, and related plumbing tools, also practices: preventive maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment, and complies with federal regulations governing environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials common to the plumbing trade and monitors and reports maintenance issues needing attention to the appropriate authority.

Contributes to the overall success of the Mechanical Maintenance Department by performing other essential duties, responsibilities, on-call duties as assigned and able to respond to emergency / disasters when arises.

Work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as climbing ladders, crawling or crouching in restricted areas.

Qualifications

A four to five year apprenticeship or equivalent on the job training is required.

Journeyman Plumbing License for applicable states where work is performed preferred. May require applicable City license.

When applicable, may need a valid driver's license. If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.
