Compensation: $21.00/hr

Kelly Science & Clinical is looking for a QC Chemist to join a leading specialty chemicals company whose businesses supply a broad range of solutions that enhance the products people use every day in Ferndale, MI.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a QC Chemist you will analyze samples from production staff using specifications set up by R&D and make recommendations for batch alterations based on results of analysis. Analysis will include wet chemistries, instrumentation including ICP-OES, AAS, HPLC, Autotitrators, pH meter, Viscometer, and Refractive index. Sample platings include chromium passivation; electrolytic Nickel, Copper, and Zinc; electroless Nickel and Copper.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quality control analysis of the products, raw materials, and special inter-department projects as needed

  • Analyze, approve/reject, and adjust products and raw materials based on corporate Q.C. specifications

  • Use Lotus Notes for Q.C. specs and procedure information

  • Calculate product adjustments, and communicate to Manufacturing

  • Use of all laboratory equipment and instruments, such as pH meters, AA, HPLC, UV, ICP, etc.

  • Communicate lab inventory needs to Supervisor

  • Communicate with Manufacturing and Purchasing to maintain high standards of Quality for raw materials and raw materials sources

  • Maintain records of test results and enter into SAP data management system

  • Log and store retain samples in proper locations

  • Maintain general lab safety and awareness

  • Perform general lab housekeeping

  • Properly store and dispose of all chemicals

  • Analyze NCMR (F8/F9) samples, and provide dispositions for them

  • All lab duties are performed in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or similar

  • 2+yrs of wet chemistry industry experience preferred, but not required

  • Strong analytical skills, strong problem-solving ability, and ability to efficiently manage a busy schedule necessary.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Strong active listening skills.

  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.

  • Experience in MS Office Suite.
