Job Description: The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in Human Services at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2025. Applicants must possess a commitment to global social justice education and a fresh pedagogical perspective while providing students with a solid foundation as a generalist in human services. Responsibilities include a teaching load of 4/4 per semester, student advising, continuing scholarship and service to the University community with additional requirements as per the MSCA contract. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, especially traditionally underrepresented and first-generation students, demonstrated teaching experience appropriate to the level of appointment, and evidence of scholarly/creative activity. Minimum: Doctoral degree in human services, psychology, social work, counseling, or related fields by June 30, 2025. ABD will be considered with an anticipated degree completion date by June 30, 2025. Enthusiasm to teach introductory and upper-level human services courses and an ability to incorporate theoretical knowledge and frameworks to real-world situations as appropriate. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body. Preferred: Prior undergraduate teaching experience, especially in concert with the ability and willingness to teach a wide array of courses in human services. The area of specialization within human services is open. For example, this person may have subject matter expertise in the policy and practice of one or more of the following areas: addictive behaviors; disability rights and services; child welfare; community-based human services work; immigrant/refugee populations advocacy, or organizing; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; or policy, system-level change, management and administration, or other relevant areas. Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented minority students is desired.
