Job Description

NAU\'s Center for International Education (CIE) is recruiting for an Education Abroad Advisor, Lead to join their dynamic team. This position will provide direct advisement to students and faculty participating in an international education programs, they will connect participants to resources and services, and will research changes to international regulations to ensure needs for participants are being appropriately and efficiently met. This position will also manage faculty led programs and handle day to day concerns, escalating issues to the Director as necessary.

Education Abroad Advising and Territory Management - 45%

Advises students on regional area programs of study (year-long, semester and summer, spring break, or winter programs).

  • Advises students on academic credit, grade transfer processes and other academic policies as they relate to NAU in general and the student\'s program of study.
  • Advises students on program costs, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, financial planning for study abroad, and any other logistical aspects related to the program, including housing, among many others.
  • Advises students, faculty, staff, and parents on NAU\'s administrative policies, procedures and opportunities for study abroad.
  • Advises faculty and academic advisors on academic policies of host institutions and of NAU\'s policies for transfer of courses earned abroad.

Day-to-Day Management - 35%

  • Marketing plan lead.
    • Ensure Advising staff are completing marketing plans, mentorship for EA Advisors, and providing support when necessary.
  • Lead for EA Advisor day to day support.
    • Support Education Abroad advisors day to day questions.
  • Manage and update Advisor manual.
    • Maintaining day to day changes in manual to ensure best practice and following NAU policies.

Supervision - 10%

  • Manage student employee scheduling to ensure coverage during prime marketing times (classroom visits).
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director on tasks for student employees.
    • Ensure student worker availability for classroom visits, events, workshops, etc.
  • Lead for Global Ambassador students.
    • Semester by semester engagement with Education Abroad alumni to support study abroad marketing.

Assessment Committee Lead - 10%

  • Create and manage assessment of Education Abroad programming.
  • Create and manage assessment of NAU Led programming.
  • Reporting to EA Director, NAU Led Lead and faculty results of assessments.
  • Program evaluation - identifying gaps in programming, improvements of current programming to be presented to Director of Education Abroad.
  • Research best practices in assessing programs, discuss with committee potential implementations, present findings to CIE leadership and imp ement changes.

Other - 5%

  • Other duties as assigned, including domestic and international travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate bachelor\'s degree, and
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, including:
    • Experience with Terra Dotta (Studio Abroad) and PeopleSoft, and
    • Demonstrated supervision experience; or
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in relevant field.
