Starting Pay: $34.2057 Hourly ($71,148) After 1st Year: $35.9942 Hourly ($74,868) After 2nd Year: $40.0652 Hourly ($83,336) After 3rd Year: $41.5478 Hourly ($86,419) After 4th Year: $43.0987 Hourly ($89,645) After 5th Year: $44.7209 Hourly ($93,019)

MIMINUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business -AND- five (5) years' experience working in a county, city or township Treasurer's Office;

-OR-

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business -AND- five (5) years' governmental accounting experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS&A software experience preferred.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs professional duties in the Treasurer's Office in relation to delinquent tax and tax reversion programs; oversees the entire lifespan of these processes and programs; supervises assigned staff; works under the direction of the Chief Deputy Treasurer; performs related duties as assigned.

*STATEMENT OF TASKS: *

  • Coordinates with local taxing authorities, delinquent tax settlements and chargebacks;
  • Verifies taxes levied with taxes collected by local unit and verifies the delinquent tax amounts;
  • Reports Taxable Value to Michigan Department of Education (DS4410);
  • Prepares annual Brownfield reporting to State;
  • Oversees campaign finance process within the office;
  • Responsible to run BS&A utilities; for example, adding fees, forfeiture and foreclosure;
  • Works with Chief Deputy Treasurer to develop and implement office procedures and policies concerning daily issues and changes in law;
  • Attend training that is appropriate to the needs of the department;
  • Oversee PAYS program;
  • Works with staff to complete FOIA requests or requests for tax records;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Deputy Treasurer or Treasurer.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of forfeiture, title searches, foreclosure and PA123;
  • Thorough knowledge of Property Tax and Delinquent Property Tax statutes;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Michigan PA123 of 1999;
  • Knowledge and understanding of County Treasurer delinquent tax process and accounting;
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written directions;
  • Ability to prepare complex fiscal reports;
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with clients, public and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions;
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
