Job Summary:
The Bilingual Paraprofessional provides assistance to English Language Learner (ELL) students under the guidance of certified teachers, in an array of classroom settings.
Essential Functions:
- Assists students by providing instructional bilingual support to English Language Learners under the guidance/supervision of a Title III Intervention Teacher.
- Provides instructional bilingual support to students individually and/or in small groups as determined by the teacher with the objective of improving the student's English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing;.
- Assists students with the goal of improving their academic achievement in core subjects such as reading and mathematics as measured by standardized assessments.
Qualifications:
Education: Must have one of the following: (1) Earned at least 60 semester hours of college credit; or (2) Obtained an associate's degree (or higher); or (3) Met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrated, through a formal state or local academic assessment: -Knowledge of, and ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or -Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
