Description of Work Unit

The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I- FBS and the Mountain West Conference. Position Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving and Stewardship position, in partnership with the Senior Associate Athletic Director and other development team members, is primarily responsible for planning, implementing and managing all aspects of the Athletic Department’s annual giving and stewardship programs, while maintaining a manageable portfolio of major gift prospects.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Sports Administration/Management, Business, Marketing, Management, HPER , HES , Recreation, Education, Economics, Liberal Arts, Communications, Sociology or any other field related to responsibilities and duties
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in an intercollegiate athletics or non-profit/development department, including demonstrated success in annual giving and stewardship
Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple audiences, written and verbal
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize projects and duties; assign responsibilities; multi-task; meet deadlines and deliver results
Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work to maximize productivity, and response effectively to change and constructive feedback.
Demonstrated ability to hire, lead and motivate a staff of highly qualified and specialized individuals
Proficiency in a variety of software products
Ability and commitment to act responsibly and ethically within the parameters of institutional control
Commitment to conduct all activities in compliance with NCAA , Mountain West Conference and Colorado State University rules and regulations
Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse community and advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion
Preferred Job Qualifications
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience working in an intercollegiate athletics or non-profit/development department, including demonstrated success in annual giving and stewardship
Proficient experience in design
Ability to problem solve and exercise initiative, independent judgement, self- motivation, and discretion.
An affinity for learning new technology
In-depth experience using Paciolan and Salesforce technology
Demonstrated experience utilizing strong analytical skills
Knowledge of appropriate NCAA rules and regulations and a commitment to the Department’s culture of compliance

Create an annual giving strategic plan
Implement and evaluate all annual athletics giving activities
Be responsible for attaining yearly fundraising goals for the annual fund categories (premium and priority seating, annual fund, booster clubs & Legacy club)
Develop and manage all aspects of annual giving program including renewals, direct mail, telemarketing and on-line giving functions
Hire, then supervise Annual Giving Coordinator
Work closely with the ticket office on all season ticket holder correspondence and directly correspond with donors as needed
Partner with CSU Advancement Annual Fund staff on special appeals and annual fund initiatives
Create and implement strategies for donor communication, solicitation, and all outward-facing donor aspects of our business
Oversee and manage all of the Development office’s social media accounts to assure that all content is active, timely and relevant
Assist with updates and changes to the Ram Club website as it relates to annual giving strategy
Maintain relevant donor benefit chart and priority point program

Create an annual stewardship strategic plan
Plan, implement and evaluate all athletics stewardship activities
Collaborate and coordinate with sport teams regarding booster club stewardship
Manage processes to acknowledge donations in a timely, professional and personalized manner
Provide individual attention to specific donors with special circumstances and/or needs by use of good judgment and by tailoring information specifically applicable to the donor
Research industry best practices and unique stewardship ideas to keep our stewardship efforts fresh and exciting
Oversee the execution of membership benefits including a third-party produced stewardship packet
Oversee system for tracking donor stewardship – who has been given what by whom
Supervise one Stewardship Coordinator
Assist Special Event team in the planning and implementation of the Department’s development-related events
Assist with the production of event correspondence, invitations, publications and promotional material as well as serve as the main contact for responses, questions, etc.
Assist in the staffing of development functions at athletics events (club rooms, suites and tents)

Leverage industry best practices to streamline data needs, from data sharing to reporting
Maintain expert-level knowledge of both campus CRM and Athletics CRM ; including coordinating the utilization, updating and management components of the CRMs as it relates to the Athletic Department, Aspire (Rams Sales Team), annual giving and Development office
Provide timely and accurate reports to assist with fundraising and communication efforts
Research, compile and analyze information pertaining to major giving potential of donors by organizing data from electronic databases and communicating with departmental personnel and other contacts
Research and implement potential sources of annual fund revenue

Ensure all functions and procedures of the Annual Giving/Stewardship office are properly implemented, documented and organized through collaboration as necessary with the ticket office, the Ram sales team (Aspire) and the Development staff
Work with Aspire, the ticket office and the Development staff on critical reports, scheduling, administrative issues and special initiatives

Define a schedule for the preparation and distribution of relevant reports and ensure prompt distribution per established deadlines
