Job Overview
In this position, you will apply your mechanical heavy equipment skills to commission, service, troubleshoot and repair shovels in open pit mining environments. Your role will, perform breakdown and preventative maintenance on existing shovel fleet and lend technical support to multiple shovel assemblies. In addition, you will also be required to attend meetings and provide the customer with reports and advice on breakdown repairs, upgrades and maintenance practices.

Shift:7x7, 12 hours per day – rotational between days and nights
Allowances:Additional premiums and allowances are associated with this position due to location
Location:Fort McMurray, AB

Responsibilities
Apply mechanical/structural skills to commission, maintain, troubleshoot and repair P&H mining shovels in open pit mining conditions
Provide technical support all of our product lines on customers’ sites
Research and troubleshoot technical issues
Promote excellent customer relations and maintain customer database
Interface current field issues with our engineering group to assist, rectify and improve repetitive or critical issues
Lend technical support to shovel assemblies and assist machine commissioning
Provide mechanical / structural technical support on Komatsu surface mining product lines on customer sites
Carry out machine audits during planned outages
Record mechanical / structural reliability issues and communicate to OEM product support for resolution
Assist customer outage planning and technical meetings
Qualifications
Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician/Millwright (Red Seal preferred) with knowledge of welding technology and structural inspection
Proven mechanical / structural troubleshooting experience on customer sites
Understand the functionality and operation of mining shovels and capable of accurately diagnosing problems.
Superior customer service skills and communication skills are required
Able to participate in machine building and commissioning phases of new equipment
Possess proven experience troubleshooting mining machines while working in an outdoor environment
Interpret welding procedures
Maintain a safe and clean safety work environment
Willingness to work overtime when required
Must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other mechanical and electrical journeymen and apprentices within the field environment
Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Teams)
Additional Secondary education in mechanical and welding trades (CWB certification) would be an advantage
Other duties as assigned
