Job Summary:

The Material Handler examines shipment contents and compares with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy. You will record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes and supports factory operations by receiving incoming material, counting and inventorying items, and receiving and checking the contents of packages against packing lists and manifests.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare documents such as bills of lading.

  • Correspond with order management as well as factory representatives to rectify problems so that customer needs dates can be met

  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for transport.

  • Contact carrier representatives to make transport arrangements.

  • Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise: Make necessary verifications against documents, prepare the merchandise, move merchandise to the appropriate area, and handle customer pick-ups.

  • Assign, tag, and store received inventory to proper location.

  • Receive parts to stock that have come in from external suppliers

  • Ensure products are properly packed and labeled

  • Maintain safe and clean working area

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2+ years of Shipping and Receiving/Material Handling experience

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes; Knowledge of 5S principles including the ability to apply them to the workenvironment; Knowledgeof procedures for safely lifting and/or moving packages up to 50 pounds in weight

  • Skills/Abilities: Detail and data orientation; Effective process evaluation andproblem solvingskills; Ability tomulti taskin a rapidly changing environment; Ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal customers; Ability to accurately count and identify parts and verify withpaper work; Ability to work well in a team setting and under immediate supervision

  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent

  • Eligibility Requirement: This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government. Additionally, as a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants selected could be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office.

  • Familiarity with government shipping regulations (ITN’s, WAWF)

  • Working knowledge of an ERP system, preferably Oracle

  • 1-3 years of experience in a regulated environment

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

  • Standing: 50-75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

  • Sitting: 25-50% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 35 pounds

  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 35 pounds

  • Mental/Visual: use of computer, eye-loop

  • Workspace: stand up computer workstation and kitting carts
