About This Role
The UTEC team in Fort Wayne, IN is hiring a Failure Analysis Technician. The position will be responsible for troubleshooting electronic controls to determine the root cause of returns from customers. You’ll be able to work with design engineers to understand if controls failures are related to problems in the control design.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic control failures to the component level
Document findings and close out cases in tracking database
Support failure investigations as required by the Quality Engineer
Seek assistance from Design Engineer to diagnose difficult or complex failures
Update or implement new procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet more complex requirements as required
Work with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree and 3+ years of experience with Electronics/Hardware/Controls troubleshooting

- High School Diploma and 5+ years of experience with Electronics/Hardware/Controls troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong failure analysis skills
High attention to detail
Highly skilled with trade specific test equipment and procedures
Good verbal and written communications skills
Good interpersonal skills
Comfortable working with other departments
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite tools
Must be mostly a self-directed professional
Must be able to manage multiple priorities
Soldering and De-soldering for both through hole, and SMT parts
Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and customers
Ability to follow and execute processes based on Standard Work Instructions
Experience in HVAC operation
